Yellow Hills Three

yellowHillsThree
Oil on canvas, gallery wrapped, 36″ x 48″

This is one in a long series of yellow hills, inspired by the hills in southern Arizona in winter. It’s a large painting with luscious paint living joyously on the canvas in bright, contemporary colors. It brightens any room it hangs in, but be aware that the color is really intense. I love the straight cadmium yellow with a touch of red Alizarin Crimson in the valleys. The bushes really do grow like this, and because they are evergreens they don’t turn in the winter. The grasses are a rich yellow and stay that way all winter because the weather is so mild in southern Arizona. Oil on gallery wrapped canvas – 42 x 36
